What we do

The Innovation Hub has worked with partners from across South Yorkshire to create an Innovation and Research Action Plan for the system, on behalf of the Integrated Care Board (ICB). This plan sets out five key objectives for innovation and research in South Yorkshire, and a series of near- and longer-term actions to achieve these. All of our activity within the Hub is geared towards delivering these objectives, and we see ourselves as a critical partner to support our ICB colleagues to achieve their overarching goals.

We are part of the South Yorkshire Digital Research and Innovation System Delivery Group, chaired by Dr David Crichton, Chief Medical Officer. This group brings together health and care partners, the region’s two universities and innovation partners to maximise the impact of research, innovation and digital transformation to improve population health and addressing health inequalities in South Yorkshire.

Across our region, numerous NHS and care organisations are working in the health and social care sector, delivering frontline services, leading research and developing innovative solutions, working in partnership with VCSE organisations and local government. Given the breadth of this landscape, the map does not aim to capture every organisation. Instead, it focuses on those with a specific emphasis on research and innovation in health and care.
